INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

KYLE sits on a really comfortable bean bag chair in a dark, messy living room. He’s wearing a t-shirt and shorts with his bare dogs out, and he plays video games on a console.

His phone rings. He looks at it, and then back at the TV and then back to the phone. He answers the call, and resumes playing.

                  KYLE

              (burps)

     Yerrppp.

INTERCUT:

INT. BEDROOM - SAME TIME

                  GAVIN

     Ew.

                  KYLE

     What, you chud?

                  GAVIN

     First, stop calling me chud.

Second, I got a match the other day.

                  KYLE

Okay? You never used a match before?

You strike it against the box-

                  GAVIN

No! I got a match on that stupid app

     you told me to download.

Kyle leans forward and stops playing the game, silently thinking.

Beat.

                  GAVIN

     Kyle-

                  KYLE

     This your first match?

                  GAVIN

     Yes.

                  KYLE

     Dude, hell yeah!

              (fast talking)

Did she leave a message? Where she

live? She in college? What she look

     like? Is she hot?

INT. INTERROGATION ROOM - EVENING

White walls, a plant in the corner, a table centered in the room, a white ceiling light buzzing a dreadful tune.

CHRISTOPHER STILLWOOD (24M) sits in a chair with his head resting on the table. He is asleep.

A camcorder mounted on a tripod is positioned on the other side of the table facing Chris. It is off.

A loud knock on the room's locked door wakes Chris with a jolt. The door opens. DETECTIVE RAY (30M) stands just outside the room. He wears a black dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up. A red tie hangs from his neck. He holds a clipboard and a binder.

Chris's face droops with drowsiness. Ray enters the room with a casual walk. He closes the door behind him.

                 DETECTIVE RAY

Sorry for the wait. The 'ol stomach

     was hungry!

Chris scans the room for a clock, confused.

                 CHRIS
     What time is it?

...

He unfolds it and takes out a piece of paper from within. The paper reads, "They're onto him. Only a matter of time..." He stares gravely at the paper.

Then, he shifts his gaze to a photo sitting on the passenger seat next to him. It's a photo of himself and another man standing at a party, glass bottles in hand, smiles on their faces. He picks up the photo with a weak smile. The type of smile you would expect someone to have when remembering the good times of a recently deceased friend.

A ticking sound can be heard. The man rolls his wrist to look at his watch, photo still in hand. He takes a shaky breath before setting down the photo.
